As a junior resident of Obstetrics and Gynecology in a government medical college, every day brings new challenges and opportunities for growth. The feeling of being a part of the healthcare system and serving the community fills my heart with pride.
The day starts early, with a quick breakfast and heading to the labor room. Seeing a new life coming into this world and being a part of this momentous occasion is an experience like no other. Sometimes there are complications, and that's when we work as a team, trying our best to save both the mother and the baby.
Later in the day, we have outpatient visits, where we provide prenatal care, counsel patients on family planning, and address any gynecological concerns. It's a privilege to be able to educate patients and aid them in making informed decisions about their health.
Attending rounds with our senior consultants is an enriching experience. We get to learn about complex cases and witness decision-making that has an enormous impact on the patient's wellbeing.
Subsequently, we spend the rest of the day attending to emergencies and assisting in surgeries. The long hours can be exhausting, but the satisfaction of knowing we're helping make a difference in people's lives is immeasurable. The camaraderie amongst the residents is fantastic, with constant support and encouragement that nurtures a culture of learning and growth. Our seniors and mentors are always available to teach and guide us, helping us become better doctors
.Being a junior resident of OBGyn is not an easy task, but the challenges that come with it are what make us better.
Each day is a new opportunity to learn, grow and make a difference in the lives of our patients. And it is this sense of fulfillment that makes it all worth it.
